Creating circles of change from here
Welcome to my practice. I am glad you are here!
Hello! I am Dr. Jingshuai Du. I am a wife, a new mom, a daughter, a sister, a Chinese immigrant and a licensed couple and family therapist who is passionate in creating meaningful changes in your life. I have been practicing therapy for over 8 years now and have extensive experiences working with children, teenagers, couples, families in general and Chinese/Asian/multicultural groups in particular. I live with my husband and a one-year-old toddler in the great Seattle area. Here is a bit about what you can expect about my therapy approach and style.
I am fascinated about people’s relationships, whether relationships with themselves, whether relationships with our loved ones, for example, our partner, our parents, children and friends…I truly believe human connections are the foundations of happiness and health. When we have good relationship with ourself, partners, parents, we feel confident, brave, safe. However, when we don’ , we get depressed, anxious, worried and scared….I approach therapy from an attachment perspective which emphasizes that we need safe and loving connections throughout of our lives.
As an attachment-oriented therapist, I believe that we all have an innate desire to grow and find ways to get our needs met. Seeing through this compassionate, survival -focused attachment light, the so-called “problematic” behaviors always make sense to me.
In the therapy room, I am warm, passionate, non-judgemental, open, curious and present. I listen to your worries, fears and pain. I explore and validate your feelings, emotions and thoughts. I gently push you when I feel you are avoiding and resisting something that is holding you back on your personal and relational growth.
One of the values I cherish as a therapist is to continuously grow and learn, which makes it fun and exciting. I have advanced training in EFT therapy, which provides a foundation for my work. As I take new steps in my practice, I am committed to increasing my skill set through training and certifications. I am currently continuing to learn the application of EFT in individuals, couples and families under supervision and am seeking certification in these areas. I am also seeking to learn and understand the unique experiences and struggles of Asian/Asian Americans in the US and how to effectively help this population.
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, going on nature walks, biking with my family and cooking. Memoirs are one of my favorite types of books to read. I constantly feel in awe of people’s unique life stories and amazed at their resilience and strength. I suppose this is one of the reasons I am so enthusiastic about counseling.
